Sunrise has been working hand in hand with Bandai since 1979 involving itself with various spin-offs and series throughout the years, and it's been a while since they've buckled down on a new series. It's been nearly 2 years since last series, Gundam 00, has stopped airing. And in the time being, Gundam Unicorn (OVA) has been taking over to compensate for the lost time. And after the long wait, here it is: Gundam Age.
The series has taken a turn to target the younger crowd in belief that the Gundam franchise has been targeting the age groups over 15, so the series has been created in hopes that kids too, will enjoy the Gundam series. Akihiro Hino, founder of Level-5 Gaming and who is well-known for helping create game franchises such as Dark Cloud, Dragon Quest, and Professor Layton, was hired as head writer for the series.
In most opinions from many Gundam fans and Otaku's, the series unfortunately has been given negative responses due to the age group the series is beginning to target. Though some others are giving it a chance, I too, hope for this series to deliver what Gundam has been delivering throughout its years.
The series will begin airing on October 2011 on MBS and TBS.
